Rugby World Cup Update

The rugby world cup has continued to surprise many people. Yesterday powerhouses Wales to on the underdogs Samoa in what was a thrilling match. Historically Wales had never beaten the Samoans at a rugby world cup and every time they had met at one Australia ended up winning the tournament. Does this rule out one nation?

Samoa having upset Australia earlier in the year had their eyes set on the Welsh. However it was not to be. The Welsh also came out with purpose dedicating the win to miners who had died back in home. Emotions were high and the game reflected this, with neither team looking to give up early.

On the stroke of half time the score was 6-3 in favour of the Welsh, with Samoa still with the ball. With a simple cut out pass to Anthony Perenise, Samoa lead going into the sheds 10-6. James Hook was 33% from the field while Paul Williams was 66%.

With a big effort from Half-Penny Wales were away down the sideline in their half. With a simple draw and pass to beat the last defender (Paul Williams) Shane Williams was away for his 55th try. This locked the score to 17-10, this was the final score.

There has been a lot of conspiracy in regards to the draw of the rugby world cup. It is supposed that the top nations only play on the week ends. Meaning the lower ranked teams play up to three games within a fortnight before having a ten day rest. This brings the question would Samoa have beaten Wales if they had longer to recover? Tusiata Pisi a star player was ruled out from the match due to a thigh injury he sustained against Namibia. Would he have altered the game? It is absurd to think that one man can make a team but it does come down to fairness. Why should one team be treated different to another? Equal opportunity should be for every country.

Let me know your thoughts.
